What the dataran offers

The square works as the open space connecting the riverside promenade with the rest of the park. It is where people gather before walking towards the water or after finishing a workout.

Tanjung Emas is a recreation area at the Muar River estuary. Muar Municipal Council lists jogging, walking, a playground and cycling, with river trips available at the jetty.

  • Open ground for easy walking, jogging and light activity.
  • Paved paths that connect into the riverside promenade.
  • Seating and gathering spots that fill up in the late afternoon.
  • Access towards the jetty when boat services are operating.

What to do here

  • Walk or jog early in the morning while the air is cooler.
  • Light playtime and a family picnic in the late afternoon.
  • Sunset photography with the Muar River and estuary as backdrop.
  • Wait for a boat trip, or simply sit and watch the water.
  • Use the square as the starting point for a short loop into Bandar Maharani.

Best time & comfort

Early morning brings soft light, more comfortable temperatures and quieter paths. Late afternoon brings river breeze, sunset colour and a livelier crowd.

Facilities such as toilets, a prayer room, shaded seating or stalls can change with maintenance and season. Treat them as a bonus, not a guarantee.

Bring your own water, a cap or small umbrella, and check the map on the day. On weekends and public holidays, arrive earlier for parking and more comfortable space.
